Welcome to Game Music Hub!

My name is Andrés Castillo, and I’m a fan of film, television and video game music, and have been for over ten years now.

My special fascination with video game music came from playing the games and desperately trying to understand how the music worked against the gameplay and cutscenes. How themes were connected to each other and supported the narrative, and even deeper than that, how the music systems worked to provide such level of interactivity and dynamism as the music adapted to the gameplay.

Growing up, there were very few places to read or watch game scores being analyzed and dissected the way that many sites are dedicated to film and television music.

And so the purpose of Game Music Hub is to provide a space for thorough analysis and break downs of game scores as they work in-game, from a narrative or implementation perspective. I am endlessly fascinated by the artform, and I’m very passionate about sharing that fascination with anyone who might want to read it.

I hope you find my writings insightful, and feel free to comment on them or share them around!

Thank you for reading.
